Service Item Options: Geolocation

Overview

The Enable Geolocation feature within service items allows users to record geographic location information in a service item in a client record. That information is then displayed in an interactive map within the service item. Geolocation can be enabled for any service category, site, site type, or status.

Service items with Enable Geolocation toggled on will display an Add Location button when the service item is recorded in the client record.

Like location records created from the Location tab, geographic location information recorded with service items can be added either manually or using geolocation information based on the device location.

Note: The Help Center article Entering Data for Geolocation-enabled Service Items covers the data entry process for adding location information to a service item in the client record.

Configuring Geolocation-Enabled Service Items

To create a geolocation-enabled service item, create a new or edit an existing service following the procedures outlined in Introduction to Services.

Within the service, either create a new or edit an existing service item, following the procedures outlined in Creating and Editing Service Items

Note: we recommend using the “Single Event"Delivery Type for service items with Enable Geolocation toggled on, in order to associate the location with a single date.

Within the Service Item: Details section, toggle on Enable Geolocation.

Geolocation Service Item Types

The manner in which location data is recorded in the client record within a service item will vary depending on the category and delivery type.

Long Term Service Items

Service items with a Delivery Type of "Long Term" allow users to record location data each time the service item is recorded in a client record.

Daily Attendance/Multiple Attendance

Service items with a Delivery Type of "Daily Attendance" or "Multiple Attendance" allow users to record location data each time the service item is recorded from the Services tab in a client record. The Add Location button is not available in the Attendance Module.

Attendance service items are linked together in the client record. The location recorded in the most recent attendance service item will be applied to all linked service items.

Services Option for Attendance Service Items

Service items with a Delivery Type of "Daily Attendance" or "Multiple Attendance" should also have Services Option toggled on within Services: Item Detail. This will allow service items to be recorded from the Services tab, where the Add Location button will display.
