2026 Data Standards Updates
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released the FY 2026 Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Data Standards. This article will contain general information, helpful links, and updates as they become available.
Release Schedule:
- All Training Sites: Monday, September 1, 2025
- All Production Sites: Wednesday October 1, 2025
Overview
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will release the FY 2026 Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Data Standards soon. The requirements of these updated standards must be programmed and in practice by all HMIS and comparable database systems by Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
Getting Started
We have already started planning our system updates. System Administrators will receive emails detailing the changes and describing any actions that will be required. We will also post this information in the 2026 Data Standards section of the Help Center.
Updates
HUD will likely release additional updates in the coming months. If you are not already subscribed to receive email updates from the HUD Exchange, we recommend signing up to be notified when these resources become available.
