2026 HMIS Data Standards: DIT Impacts
FY 2026 Data Standards impacts for the Clarity Human Services Data Import Tool (DIT).

Overview
HUD's HMIS Data Standards updates must be programmed and in practice by all HMIS and comparable database systems by Wednesday, October 1, 2025. This article provides details on the impacts to the Data Import Tool (DIT).
Impact of FY2026 Data Standards on the DIT
Please note the following:
CSV and XML Data Imports
- Starting 09/01/2025, users will be able to test DIT imports on training sites using the FY 2026 HMIS CSV specifications and Clarity XML Schema.
- Updated FY 2026 HMIS CSV and Clarity XML imports will be available in live sites starting 10/01/25.
Update (09/04/2025):
HMIS Data Element 4.21 Sex: Due to late changing requirements, 4.21 Sex is not currently available for testing in DIT and will not be available in the DIT on October 1. We will update this article as soon as it is available. Once it is available, 4.21 Sex will be imported into Clarity program enrollment entry screens for all enrollments with an 3.10.1 Project Entry Date on or after 10/1/2025, and meeting the Funder: Program Component and Project Type Applicability as defined in the FY26 Data Dictionary.
