2022 Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Data Standards Released
Dear Bitfocus Customers,
Last month the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released the FY 2022 Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Data Standards Manual and Data Dictionary. If you are subscribed to receive email updates from the HUD Exchange, you should have received this communication.
The requirements of the FY 2022 HMIS Data Standards must be programmed and in practice by all HMIS and comparable database systems by Friday, October 1, 2021. Here at Bitfocus, we have already begun the process of planning our system updates. We are also in the process of developing detailed guidance for our customers to communicate exactly what changes are occurring and what actions may be required of System Administrators.
In the weeks to come, we will send out several topic-specific communications and resources detailing what changes to expect. We will also post this information in a dedicated section of the Help Center so you’ll have a central location to access all Bitfocus resources related to the FY 2022 HMIS Data Standards.
If you have not done so already, we strongly recommend you begin familiarizing yourself with the 2022 HMIS Data Standards Manual and 2022 HMIS Data Dictionary (please note that those are the current versions as of today, but HUD will likely release revised versions in the coming months, and those will be available on HUD's 2022 Data Standards documentation page. HUD will also publish several additional resources in the days, weeks, and months to come, including updated CSV and XML schemas, updated reporting specifications, and other supporting documents. If you are not already subscribed to receive email updates from the HUD Exchange, we recommend signing up so you can receive a notification when these resources become available.
We look forward to working together and providing support to our customers during this time. If you have any questions, please reach out to support@bitfocus.com.
Sincerely,
The Bitfocus Team
