      Data Analysis Release Notes 8/12/2024



      Release Notes Summary

      The changes outlined here will be released to Looker training instances on 7/29/2024 and production instances on 08/12/2024. Deployment should be complete by 8am ET. There may be slight delays when accessing Looker after the release as the system updates are being applied.

      Looker Upgrade


      The Data Analysis Tool will be upgraded to Looker version 24.10 during the maintenance window on August 4, 2024. Release notes for Looker can be found here.


      In this upgrade, The Maps(Legacy) visualization type is no longer available. Existing looks or dashboard tiles using the Maps(Legacy) visualization type will now display as the Google Maps visualization type. 


      Action Required: Looks that were created using the Maps(Legacy) visualization type will display as a Google Maps visualization type. Looks may need to be edited and resaved for data to display properly on the maps. 

      LookML Bug Fixes

      Beginning August 5, 2024, Bug fixes for the LookML project will be released on Mondays between 4 AM and 6 AM Pacific Standard Time. Communication about the changes will be available on the 2024 Data Services Change Log. Customers may experience slower than usual performance on the Looker Application during this window of time.  Customers with embedded dashboards set as their login screens may experience slow login times during the release window. The schedule of bug fixes is subject to change, and additional bug fixes may be released as needed outside of the described window.

      LookML Dashboards


      The HMIS Data Quality Supplemental LookML Dashboard logic was updated to align with the addition of 'x' placeholders in Social Security Numbers as referenced in the HMIS Reporting Glossary for Table Q2. Personally Identifiable Information (PII) Row 3 Social Security Number (3.02).

      Inventory Model, Project Descriptor Model

      Two new fields have been added to the "Buildings", "Units", and "Programs" Views: "Agencies Sending Referrals" and "Other Agency Referrals Allowed".

        Project Descriptor Model 

        Twelve new fields have been added to the "Outreach Settings" view in the Project Descriptor model. Four fields have updated descriptions. The "Restrict by CoC" field has been changed from a yes/no datatype to a string datatype. 

        Outreach Model

        In the "Outreach Settings" view, four fields have updated descriptions. The "Restrict by CoC" field has been changed from a yes/no datatype to a string datatype. 

        Data Quality Model

        Two new fields have been added to the "Programs" View: "Agencies Sending Referrals" and "Other Agency Referrals Allowed". 

          Added additional checks to the "SSN Error" field.

          Reservations Model

          Two new fields have been added to the "Programs" View: "Agencies Sending Referrals" and "Other Agency Referrals Allowed". 

          Client Model, Coordinated Entry Model, HMIS Performance Model, Project Descriptor Model, Data Quality Model, Outreach Model, Inventory Model, Services Model, Population Over Time Model

          Added Country to Location group in each view where geolocation information is present.

          Added additional checks to the "SSN Error" field. Social Security Numbers with the following characteristics will now be flagged as "Possibly Invalid":

          •  Last 4 digits of SSN are 0000
          • First 3 digits of SSN are 000, 666, or 999
          • First digit of SSN is 9
          • Middle two digits of SSN are 00
          • All numbers in SSN are repeating (e.g., 222-22-2222 or 555-55-5555)
          • All numbers in SSN are sequential (e.g., 123-45-6789 or 543-21-0987)
