2024 Data Standards

2020 HMIS Data Standards Bed and Unit Inventory Changes

The 2020 HMIS Data Standards contain several changes to the way Bed and Unit Inventory data is collected in HMIS, including the retirement of several fields, relocation of where data is collected, and new fields for tracking dedicated beds. It is important that communities review the accuracy and completeness of their bed and unit inventory prior to October 1, to ensure the most accurate data mapping when the new Data Standards are implemented in Clarity Human Services.

Bed and Unit Inventory is tracked within Programs in the Agency Management section of Clarity Human Services (figure 1). For more information on how this information is recorded, please see How to Set Up a Program: Detailed Instructions.

In Clarity Human Services, your data will be mapped according to the HUD mapping instructions. The table in figure 2 outlines the changes to Bed and Unit Inventory data collection in the 2020 HMIS Data Standards. A summary of how data will be mapped, where applicable is provided. If you would like a full explanation for how these fields will be populated, please see the 2020 Instructions for Mapping Existing HMIS Data to Current HMIS Data Standards, which contains details on the calculations to be used by vendors.
